Tea, Coffee, and Desserts, Oh My!

Writer's picture: SerinaJ SerinaJ

Good morning, Serina here!

I’m not sure about you, but I am a tea and coffee fanatic! My love for desserts is on another level! Trying new coffees, teas, and desserts brings my taste buds utter joy.

I’ve sampled an array of coffees, from lattes in Florence to café con leche in Puerto Rico, Turkish coffee, Albanian coffee, and tea from Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka), Chinese tea leaves, and tea from Hong Kong. I absolutely love coffee and tea; it's a delight to take my time and enjoy the flavors, especially when paired with a sweet treat!

My love for dessert is beyond this world. When my husband and I went on our first date, the waiter asked, “What would you like?” Without hesitation, I said, “I’ll have a slice of the chocolate fudge cake and one cappuccino.” The waiter responded, “You don’t want an entrée?” I replied, “No, I start with dessert first and let the rest fall into place.” In that instant, my husband smiled, looked at the waiter, and said, “I’ll have the same.” I know it’s normal to order your appetizers, entrée, and then, if you can, dessert. But screw normal, I’d rather change up the order of things because why not! Plus, in doing so, I found a keeper!

I’m a choca-holic to the core, and if there are any chocolates around, you better believe it’ll be gone. When it comes to cakes, I am obsessed with Tres Leches and Tiramisu cake and cannoli’s, all day! I can go on about my love for all three items, but for now, I’ll share some great places that swept my tastebuds away:

  1. Caffé Gilli in Florence, Italy

  2. El Jibarito in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

  3. Chocobar Cortés in San Juan, Puerto Rico

  4. Ten Ren’s Tea shop in New York, NY

  5. Laduree in Madison Ave, NY

  6. Dei Coltelli Gelato & Sorbet in Williston Park, NY

  7. Sloans Ice Cream in Santa Monica, CA

  8. The Snackery Bakeshop in Rye, NY

  9. Bosphrus Cafe Grill in Port Washington, NY

  10. Buttah Bakery in Ridgewood, NY

Feel free to share your favorite items and places in the comments below.

See you on the next post!

Yours Truly,

Serina

I’m typically more of a savory person, myself, but I’m also an adventurer and so I love trying things that others enjoy!! And recommendations can really shake things up. It’s like experiencing something with a friend…just not at the same time. 😊 They say food brings people together. Glad it helped you find your soulmate. Love your blog!!!
